Ingredient List for Palestinian Knafah

Would you like to make knafah the Palestinian way? Why not try this easy, amazing sweet?
Syrup:
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 tsp. lemon juice
Cheese filling:
12-16 oz. Ricotta OR Arabic Sweet Cheese, shredded
12-16 oz. Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded
1/2 cup sugar

Also: 1 package of frozen Kataifi Shredded Filo Dough
1 pound melted butter, bit of yellow/orange/red food coloring and toasted pine nuts or crushed pistachios for garnish

Cooking Spray
TWO large baking sheets (can use jelly roll sheets or cookie sheets with edges)

Delicious Knafah Syrup: Make it in the Palestinian way in photos STEP 11

Knafah syrup is the simplest thing you’ll ever make!
Boil together 2 cups water with 2 cups sugar till slightly thick, then add 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice. Done! You’ll want to POUR this syrup over your knafah, and you can get creative & add crushed pistachios, or toasted pine nuts on top of the knafah.

Place your prepared pan atop your knafah, and (wearing those oven mitts) grap both pans firmly (no slipping), turn them over together. See the result in STEP 9 ==>

For STEP 7, you are only half way done baking. Keep your oven on, and get get a second large cooking sheet prepared and oiled. You are going to flip your knafah. It is very easy, it just helps to have cooking mitts, to keep your hands from burning. Trust me, it has always been EASY to flip the knafah. For the 6th step, your oven is PREHEATED to 400 degree, and you are going to cook your knafah. Stay nearby, don’t leave the kitchen (the last thing we want it to burn this treat!) Cook till the cheese is melted, usually about 20 minutes. ONTO Step 7 ==>
